Chapter 677: Some Responsibilities Are Unavoidable
Su Qianxun held her breath and gazed at Gu Mian nervously, wondering why she suddenly asked her that.
“Why are you asking me this all of sudden? Umm… I mean, what’s going on with you?”
“Nothing, I’m just asking. I’m hungry. I want to eat something.”
Gu Mian held her hand. After she had cried and released some of the frustration within her, she felt so much better.
“I’ll cook something for you,” Su Qianxun immediately said.
“There are some wontons that I made on the bottom shelf in the fridge. You can make some for me.”
“Okay, just a moment.” Su Qianxun got up and headed to the kitchen.
The smile on Gu Mian’s face slowly faded. Her facial expression became grim and gloomy. She knew Su Qianxun too well. Seeing her reaction earlier, Gu Mian realized that she probably had no memory of something that happened ages ago.
Su Qianxun took out the wontons and boiled some water before she put the wontons into a pot. She was secretly quite anxious. It was odd for Mian Mian to ask if she had killed anyone for no good reason.
Everyone had been keeping the fatal car accident that happened years ago a secret from Mian Mian. They worried that she could not bear the news.
Back then, she was still young. The Gu family wanted her to keep quiet about it, and she agreed instantly. She thought that it was better for Mian Mian that way.
It was because Mian Mian was too kind. If she knew that she had taken a life, she would be remorseful and miserable.
However, now that she was a few years older, Su Qianxun began to question the decision. ‘Is it good to keep this from Gu Mian?’
As she grew up, she realized that some responsibilities were unavoidable. People could not just escape the burden they had to bear.
Su Qianxun was lost in her thoughts when Tang Zui returned from grocery shopping. He was carrying two ridiculously big bags, which were full of ingredients, in his hands.
Tang Zui placed the bags on the kitchen floor and said, “I’ve gotten everything on the list.”
Su Qianxun was astounded.
After Su Qianxun cooked the wontons, she took them into the bedroom for Gu Mian. While the latter ate, Su Qianxun went out to the kitchen to brew some herbal soup for her.
Seeing that Gu Mian was willing to eat something, Tang Zui secretly sighed in relief. Gu Mian did not eat much when they were having breakfast that morning.
Su Qianxun took note of how much of the ingredients that she needed for the soup. She instructed Tang Zui to put the rest into the fridge.
“What is this?” Tang Zui picked up a sweet potato and asked.
“That is a sweet potato. Don’t you recognize it?” Su Qianxun glanced at him.
Tang Zui chuckled sheepishly. “The ones I’ve seen didn’t look like this!”
Su Qianxun was at a loss for words.
She finally realized that most men lacked the simple life skills to survive.
She suddenly thought of Long Sijue. She supposed that he used to be like Tang Zui, but Long Sijue had now started to learn how to cook, much to her surprise.
“By the way, Long Sijue is learning how to cook. Do you want to take a class as well? You and Mian Mian have to spend a lifetime together. You can’t just expect her to cook for you every day,” Su Qianxun suggested, furrowing her brows as she looked at him.
“What? What did you say? Who’s learning how to cook?” Tang Zui was so shocked that his gaping mouth could fit an egg.
“Long Sijue. I don’t know why he suddenly became interested in cooking. But I think it’s really good to learn how to cook. Even if you’re left alone someday, you won’t have to starve.” Su Qianxun chopped the sweet potato into tiny chunks.
Tang Zui froze. No words could describe his feeling at that exact moment. ‘Long Sijue is learning how to cook? With his gun-wielding hands?’
Tang Zui began to study the young woman closely while she busily chopped the sweet potatoes. Besides being pretty, he could not tell what else she was good for. ‘How does she melt Long Sijue’s iceberg heart?’
