Chapter 72: A Simple Research Finding
“Miss? Miss?” The alchemist Williams shook Tisdale’s arm to wake her up from her thoughts before he asked her again, “Do you think we should just make a huge batch of these magical gems? If we can find the right channel, it would bring a huge fortune for us!”
“Don’t rush into it first,” Tisdale was much calmer than the alchemist who seemed to be unable to control his happiness, her instinct told her that she should seek for the consent of her teacher first before doing anything. A person who could readily give you those formulas could easily ask for them back at any given moment. Tisdale had no doubt that his teacher had the ability to do that.
“Then, should we go get it patented first? As far as I know, there’s no similar product registered with the Alchemy Association yet!” The alchemist tried his luck again. Following the introduction of the patents law by the Sorcerers Association, all the other associations had also followed such similar laws ever since then, thereby extending the protection of intellectual property to all the fields. Because there was no such formula available on the market yet, it would be vital to register the patent first as a preemptive measure.
Shaking her head again, Tisdale told him, “We’ll talk about this later. Just make three of each for me first. Thank you, Mr. Williams. As for the subsequent issues, I’ll discuss it with you again next time.”
Then, with question in her heart, Tisdale went back to the academy and searched for Baiyi. When she appeared in front of him, he only lifted his head up slightly and gave her a quick glance before telling Mia who was about to have her tutorial class to leave first, “Mia, go practice your magic there. I need to be alone with Tisdale.”
After Mia had gone to the practice field, Bayi cast a Sound Barrier before lowering his head back down to continue working on Mia’s formation and said at the same time, “Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any question.”
“E-Eh? Teacher? I-I just…” Tisdale became awkward at once.
“It’s fine, just ask. I can already see the question mark on your face, you know. You want to know about the three formulas, right?” Without the need to lift his head up, he already knew what Tisdale was going to ask.
This little girl really does have everything written on her face. Sigh… She’s still too young! Baiyi sighed in his heart.
Tisdale did not expect Baiyi to know what she was thinking so for a moment, she was lost in daze but at the same time, touched. After hesitating for a moment, she finally opened her mouth, “T-Teacher, about the three formulas…”
Baiyi heard the question and promptly stopped his work and tilted his head slightly before he exclaimed, “That is a gift to you for becoming my apprentice. I was a little busy before and so I could only give it to you now. Just use it as you like. Oh! And don’t forget to get it patented alright? It’s fine if you just write your own name down.”
“A-Ah. is that so?” Nodding her head, Tisdale continued, “B-But, the formulas are very valuable! Are you sure you don’t need me to help you with anything, teacher?”
Shaking his head, Baiyi smiled, “Of course I don’t! For the past 6000 years, your family has already done so much in honoring your duty. It’s time for you to reap the rewards now. The formulas, knowledge and power that I’m teaching you are actually awarded to you by the Emperor for your loyalty towards him. I’m just merely acting as his messenger. Just use them as you like.”
Tisdale did not doubt Baiyi’s explanation at all, nor did she doubt his identity as a messenger. That was because there was nobody else in the world who understood Ancient Rohserlese other than him and herself. Not only that, Baiyi also knew about the secret pledge of her family, which was more than enough to prove Baiyi’s identity. However, even if that was the case, Tisdale still felt a little taken aback by such a huge gift. After all, those three formulas were a little too valuable to be given away just like that.
“Alright! Stop thinking about it so much,” Baiyi stood up and patted Tisdale’s head like how he usually did to Mia before he added on, “These meager things means nothing to me. There are even more surprising things in store, you know.”
She pulled back and rubbed the place where Baiyi had patted just now, a naughty grin appeared on her face as Tisdale quietly effused, “Why are you so amazing teacher? Come on! Tell me more of your stories!”
“Haven’t you heard about the proverb ‘curiosity kills the cat’? It’s not the right time now!” Baiyi brushed her off and sat back down, continuing his work. Actually, he only told Tisdale that he and the Emperor were both stuck in a place that she could never imagine and they were trying to find their way back to the realm of reality. However, as there were many people who did not like them, the matter had to be kept confidential at all time.
Tisdale did not doubt the reasoning too and she also vowed to keep the secret to herself. However, there was still the curiosity that kept creeping up and so she kept asking Baiyi to tell her more. But as usual, he would brush her off and she would leave in disappointment.
Looking at the slim and graceful silhouette as well as the bright dazzling golden long hair, all Baiyi could do was shake his head in silence and thought to himself, I’ll tell you everything only when you’re ready to go against the world but I really do hope that that day will never come.
That afternoon, the alchemist workshop sent nine magical gems over to the laboratory and then Tisdale followed the carriage back to handle the patent-related work. Baiyi picked up a gem and carefully studied it on his palm, he asked, “Although a level-two gem that is forged using the cost of a level one gem is not quite durable, but I guess it’s at least sufficient for everyday use. Why does this remind me of a disposable lighter?”
“Hahaha! This gem was designed exactly with that concept in mind!” The Alchemist exclaimed proudly, “A consumable like this which needs to be constantly replaced is the way to go!”
“Indeed. But it’s quite unreasonable for us to dominate the market by using such a thing I think.” Baiyi continued, “We’ll gonna be loathed by other competitors…”
“So what? We’re the one who have the upper hand anyway. Why do we need to be afraid of those mediocre people?” The Alchemist said arrogantly.
The Alchemist was known for his arrogance and rebellious behaviour before his death. Since last time, he was the only who dared to carry out experiments that others would not dare to do and he had never once followed the traditions and rules of alchemy. For that reason, he was called a madman or a psychopath by others, they even gave him a derogatory title ‘The Heterodox Alchemist’.
Yet, he did not give a damn about those mundane things at all. He even said to Baiyi proudly, “Yeah? So what? The title is cool, don’t you think so?”
Well, as a result of his recklessness, in one of his experiments, he accident created an explosion and blew himself into the Void where he then met the other Voidwalkers. After exchanging his memory with Baiyi, he even insisted on changing his name to Nobel.
“Hey I’m the man who blew a hole through the realm barriers okay?! Don’t you think the name suits me very much? Those protagonists in the novels who needed to rely on electrocution to get through realms or time are so lame in comparison to me!” The Alchemist, Nobel, announced contemptuously.
In short, the Sixth Walker, also known as the Alchemist, was a guy with a lot of delusions even after he died. Everytime when he was bored, he would start giving himself some new out-of-the-world titles or keep bothering Baiyi to redo the experiment that had blown him into the Void and insisted that it was the solution in rescuing all of them out.
But seriously, does he really think that I’m going to do it? Aren’t you scared that there would be another explosion? I might as well use the time and effort to search for the Soul Banishment Scroll or the Fairy’s bow!
Then again, although the Alchemist was quite deluded, there was no question when it came to his alchemist skill. Just a mere ad-lib formula was already enough to make Tisdale dropped down to her knees with amazement.
Just as he said, it was nothing to give those formulas away as there were more lucrative methods up in his sleeve. All of it depended on whether Baiyi was willing to get involved with Tisdale’s alchemist workshop or not.
But anyway, there was no rush to go into that for now as Baiyi still had enough money on hand. It was more important for him to deal with cute little Mia first.
With those three magical gems in hand now, Mia’s staff was almost completed. After adding on the three gems that helped increase the spell range, the speed of the spell casting and the switching between attributes, along with a Level Four offense spell— Aurora’s Execution 1 , the staff was finally on par with the other expensive high-grade magical tools. In order to enchant the new spell that was created by the Voidwalkers, the Everfrost Crystal that was gifted by s student last time was finally put to use.
But why do I feel like something’s not right with this spell? First of all, the spell’s name sounds so familiar to me and hello? Guys? Mia is not an Aquarius 2 okay?! And why does this spell that was co-invented by the Archmage, the Scholar, the Sorcerer, the Explorer seems to be just an enlarged version of the spell Icebeam?
“How could this spell be something as simple as Icebeam? Didn’t you realize that with just one extra line of incantation, the Icebeam will solidify and turn into a long ice sword? Mia can use this to physically attack her opponent, you know!” Sorcerer defended their invention.
I did realize this but do tell me how can this function help her? Huh? Do you expect her to use a 40 metres long ice sword to hack the opponent? Would you look at the size of her body please!
“SHALLOW! HOW SHALLOW! Don’t you know that a real battle requires a person to switch between physical and elemental attacks all the time?” The Sorcerer snarled.
“Just ignore that guy. That is a feature that he insisted on adding beforehand. The main point is to transform the Icebeam into an Ice Binding spell with just an additional incantation,” the Scholar explained.
“This spell can also be turned into Frostshield for defense and Frost Nova for offense as well!” The Explorer whose Silence Spell had just expired added on.
“As for the spell’s name, I was the one who came up with it!” The Archmage piped in suddenly.
Oh gosh! Are you guys sorcerers or transformers?
