Chapter 32:
Silje frowned as Kail dragged her to an unknown place. He seemed determined and no one could stop him. She knew he wouldn’t let her go unless she told him the truth.
Kail warned her, “You better tell me, because I won’t release you until then.”
When he took her outside the building, the cold air whipped her hard.
“Kail! What are you doing! Just…”
Suddenly, she realized what Kail was doing. She looked around nervously. It was getting dark, and thankfully, there weren’t a lot of kids outside because classes had started. Against the gushing wind, Kail dragged her by her hand and all Silje could feel was relief that no one seemed to notice what was happening.
It was starting to snow, and with the wind, visibility was diminishing quickly. Faraway, Silje saw the small building Kail and his gang used as their own. They walked quickly, and soon they were inside the cozy place.
Kail slammed the door shut.
Silje was pale and she glared at him silently. When Kail didn’t say anything, she asked him angrily, “Are you happy now?”
Kail’s eyes looked calm.
“No, unfortunately, I haven’t even started yet.”
With that, he took his wool coat off and tossed it onto the sofa. He seemed relaxed as if he was alone in the room, and Silje didn’t like that.
This was his territory, and in here, Silje felt trapped. She felt like she now had no choice but to tell him the truth and the real reason why she ended up outside his classroom.
“Fine, I will tell you. You dragged me here, so I guess there is no point in hiding it anymore.”
At her cool words, Kail smiled faintly.
“Good. I like it. Most people wimp out when they are cornered, but you never seem to shy away from difficult situations. I like that about you. You don’t hide from the truth.”
“I am not doing this because I want you to like me.”
Silje looked indignant as she continued, “The reason why I went to your classroom was… It wasn’t for a big reason. And it definitely wasn’t because I like you or I am attracted to you.”
At her firm tone, Kail looked at her in amusement. Hating his expression, Silje took a deep breath and explained.
“I guess… I did feel like I hit a brick wall. An obvious act of violence is happening at school, yet no one is trying to stop it. Therefore, I thought of you.”
“You thought that the school won’t help you, but I might? You thought of me?”
“Fine. Yes. I will admit it, are you happy now? You pushed me into the corner and now you got the answer you wanted.”
At her anger, Kail just smiled idly. He acted like he had all the time in the world, and his relaxed attitude annoyed her. He looked like a cat playing with a mouse. Silje bit her lips and turned around.
When she walked towards the door, Kail stopped her. He breathed into her ear and whispered, “Tell me more. I want to hear the details. It’s very interesting.”
“I have told you enough. There is nothing more to say.”
“Well, I will be the one who decides that.”
Kail continued to act in a calm manner. He was in his space, and there was no need for him to hurry.
“Tell me more.”
“You already know. You got the point, right? What is it that you want to gain by continuing to push me?”
He didn’t even blink at her anger. Kail just continued to smile.
“I just want to hear it from your lips. If you don’t want to, then I can say it for you. If you want me to, I will do it.”
He gave her an odd smile and continued, “The school won’t help you, so you came to me. In this school, I would be the only one who can fight violence with violence. You thought that with my power in this school, I could help you or another person of your choice. That’s it, right?”
Silje wasn’t surprised at his accurate assessment. She also didn’t want to bow down to him just because he was right either — her pride wouldn’t let her.
She replied coolly, “You’re right. I won’t deny it or give you stupid excuses. It is true that for a second, I did consider it.”
Silje didn’t look away from him as she continued, “And that is why I am here.”
“So, what are you going to do next?”
Silje was confused by his laid-back question.
“Next? Nothing. I am going to leave now.”
“Why would you leave when you came this far? What if I accept your proposal? What would you do then?”
At his unexpected words, Silje froze. She turned around slowly and saw that Kail was staring at her while taking his clothes off.
Silje gasped as he threw away his black fleece sweater. He looked treacherously sexy, but Silje refused to give in.
“Don’t. I don’t want that.”
She became pale as she quickly added, “I don’t want it. Did you hear me? Do you understand what I’m saying?”
“I understand,” Kail nodded simply. Still staring at her, he continued, “But the important thing here is that I want you.”
And with that, his lips took hers.
“…!”
It was so sudden. He kissed her like he wanted to swallow her whole, and she moaned. It was a passionate kiss that burned her soul. He wanted her. He wanted her everything. Until he had all of her, he was never going to be satisfied. His desire for her was indescribable.
He tilted her head and kissed her over and over again. He grabbed her long hair and sucked on her lips. He burned her, and Silje’s eyes widened.
“Oh, don’t… ahhh.”
She couldn’t believe it, but she was responding to him.
It was a feeling she had never felt before. From deep inside, another side of her came out like a magic trick. With Kail’s animalistic kiss, something within her spurred her on to kiss him back.
This couldn’t be. How could she feel like this to someone like Kail?
He was her enemy.
“Oh, ahhhhh! Stop…”
Suddenly, Silje flinched and pushed him away. She could’ve done it earlier, but she didn’t, and the realization made her confused.
Kail raised his eyebrows and said to her, “Then give yourself to me. If you do, I will protect your friend. I will make sure no one can touch him.”
Kail smiled wickedly. His voice was so sweet that it chilled her soul.
“Give yourself to me and I will protect that boy. I will use my violent way to help you.”
