Capture Her Heart After Marriage Chapter 38 What Kind of Person Was She?

Chaim lowered his eyes and thought for a moment. He didn't know how to answer her question. He
couldn't really explain why he didn't allow them to meet. All he knew was that there was a voice inside
him saying that when they did, something would happen that was beyond his control.

He didn't want to believe the feeling, yet he couldn't stop worrying about it either. Because of that, up
until to now he hadn't told Eve he was married. Plus, the most important point to everything was that he
hasn't made sure Eve didn’t have any kinds of feelings for him. If she did, he wondered would would
happen to her.

"Chaim?" When Chaim hadn’t answered in more than a few moments, Evelyn tugged on his sleeve.
"What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing," Chaim said as he returned to his senses and pinched his brow in weariness. "You really
want to meet her?"

"Yes," Evelyn nodded.

A lump grew in Chaim’s throat he couldn’t swallow, his voice becoming a little hoarse, "Okay, I will
arrange for you two to meet, but not for too long."

"Good." Evelyn beamed.

Chaim cast an annoyed glance at Nathaniel, who was standing expressionless at his side, and slowly
balled his hands into fists before striding toward the hall. Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and followed him
out.

"Which ward is Alexia in?"

"She’s downstairs, I'll take you there." Nathaniel said and led on, Chaim following closely.

Chaim followed him.

"I thought you weren’t going to let them see each other? Why have you suddenly changed your mind?"
Nathaniel snickered as they got on the elevator.

Chaim ignored him, staring at the slim crack between the elevator doors, his face hiding all emotions
from anyone caring to look.

"Chaim, what the hell is on your mind?"

"What do you mean?" Chaim asked coldly, drawing his lips into a thin line.

Nathaniel stood next to him and places his hands in the pockets of his white coat. "I distinctly
remember you saying it would be impossible for you to love Alexia, right?"

"Hmm."

"Then why are you bringing these two together?" Nathaniel asked, eyeing his friend seriously. "I didn't
want to say anything about any of this before. However, now I have something to say since you don't
have that in mind. You shouldn't get too close to her."

Before he changed his mind about Alexia, he did think that she was not good enough for Chaim.
However, he had changed his mind. Compared to Evelyn, Alexia had a pure heart and was far more
suitable for Chaim than Evelyn. Nathaniel wanted Alexia and Chaim to be together.

As a bystander, there was one thing Nathaniel could see very clearly. Even though Chaim still couldn't
let go of Evelyn, he also had a place for Alexia in his heart. The only problem was that Chaim hadn't
realized it yet.

Thinking of this, Nathaniel continued with a solemness in his voices. "Chaim, as your friend, I hope you
don't do something you’ll later regret."

Chaim narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"It doesn't really matter what I mean. It will be pointless for me to try and explain anyway. I just want to
give you my personal advice." Nathaniel smiled and stopped outside the door to a room. "This is it,
head on in. I'll be in my office if you need me." Nathaniel nodded toward the door and turned to head
back to his office.

Chaim stood thoughtfully for a moment before raising his hand and knocking on the door.

"Who is it?" Alexia called, rolling over and lifting her head from the pillow.

"It's me."

"Chaim?" Surprised, Alexia hurriedly put on her shoes and got out of bed to open the door.

When the door opened, Chaim walked in with only a small glance at Alexia. "You were sleeping?"

"No, just lying down while playing a game on my phone," Alexia said, closing the door behind her.

With the surgery that evening, she couldn't sleep.

"Don’t you have astigmatism? And yet you're still lying in bed playing with your phone?" Chaim asked
furrowing his brows.

Alexia touched her nose and smiled sarcastically, "It's comfortable to lie down and play. Have you
finished visiting with Ms. Evelyn?" she asked, quickly changing the subject.

"She wants to see you."

"Who?" Alexia froze, not sure how to react.

Chaim gave her a sidelong glance. "Who do you think I’m talking about?"

Alexia blinked and muttered in dismay, "Ms. Evelyn?

"Correct. Let's go, I'll take you up." Chaim walked toward the door without another word and took a few
steps before realizing Alexia wasn’t following.

He turned back to see that Alexia was still standing there like a fool, her hands playing with one of her
sleeves.

"What are you doing just standing there? Are you coming?" Chaim pursed his lips, his tone more than a
little annoyed.

Alexia bit her lip before walking over to him hesitantly. "Sorry, I’m coming."

The air was thick with an uncomfortable silence as the two quietly walked down the corridor. For a long
time, Alexia stared at the back of her husband in front of her and wasn’t sure what to say before finally
getting the courage to speak up.

"Chaim."

Chaim didn’t slow down. "What is it?"

"What kind of person is Ms. Evelyn?" Alexia asked tentatively.

When she was on the phone, Alexia had vaguely guessed from the tone of Evelyn's voice that she was
a strong and sharp person. And, in Alexia’s experience, such people were generally not very good
looking, so she was a little worried. At the same time, Alexia wanted to hear his opinions of Evelyn and
if she was right.

"Why do you even care?" Chaim asked, pressing the elevator button instead of answering the question.

Alexia bit her lip. "I’m just curious. If you don't want to talk about it, I understand."

"There's really nothing to say." Chaim stepped into the lift and pressed a button before answering. "Eve
has a gentle and sweet personality."

"Sweet?" The corner of Alexia's mouth twitched imperceptibly.

Sure enough, Chaim’s opinions differed vastly from Alexia’s. She didn't think Evelyn was a gentle
person. In fact, when she mentioned she was Chaim’s wife on the phone, Evelyn was clearly agitated
and angry. Was this what Lynn meant? Was Evelyn really gentle and sweet in front of Chaim and a
black-hearted one behind him?

"Thinking about something?" Chaim asked.

Alexia shook her head and looked down at her hands. "No… Nothing..."

Chaim could see Alexia was lying, but he wasn't interested enough to press the matter, so he
straightened as he spoke. "When you meet with Eve, remember there are some things you shouldn't
say, so don't say them."

"What are some of the things I shouldn’t say?" Alexia twisted her fingers and asked carefully.

Chaim glared at her, frowning. "Except for mentioning the fact that you are my wife, you can say
anything else at your own discretion."

"Oh..." Alexia's eyes dimmed, and she lowered her head.

Was he so ashamed of having her as a wife that she couldn't even mention it? Or was he worried that
she, his wife, would irritate Evelyn, his ex-girlfriend? Alexia sucked in a breath, her heart hurting, and
glanced away without saying a word.

In the silence, Evelyn's ward arrived.

Chaim motioned for Alexia to go in alone, while he himself lit a cigarette and stood outside the door to
wait. Alexia wanted to remind him to smoke less, that it was not good for his health. But she held back
when he saw the weariness and worry on his brow.

"I guess I’m going in then."

"Hmm," Chaim responded with an expressionless face.

Alexia turned the handle and pushed the door open.

Evelyn heard the door open and looked up. "Hello?"

"Hello." Alexia nodded, sizing Evelyn up.

Evelyn was sitting on the hospital bed; holding a book in her hand; wearing a light smile on her face;
and carried a nice, gentle, and elegant air around her, worthy of a young lady from a prestigious family.
She was also so thin she looked like a skeleton. Even so, she was still very beautiful in her wig.

Such a beautiful woman with a good temperament, a good family background, and also being a good
dancer, it was no wonder Chaim kept thinking about her, Alexia thought to herself envying.

Little did Alexia know that while she was envious of Evelyn, Evelyn was also envious of her. It was
obvious they both had the same blood type of bone marrow, so why was Alexia able to be healthy and
well while Evelyn had to lie there.

However...

When Evelyn looked at Alexia's inferior look and figure, her emotions instantly balanced out again.

"You’re Ms. White, right?" Evelyn asked with a smile as she pushed down the negative emotions.
