Visit the aeta's in Tarlac.
The Aeta people in Tarlac are often grouped with other Negritos. The Aeta are the descendants of the
original inhabitants of the Philippines. According to Spanish observers, Negritos possessed iron tools
and weapons. Their speed and accuracy with a bow and arrow were proverbial, and they were
fearsome warriors. Unwary travelers or field workers were often easy targets. Despite their martial
prowess, however, the Aeta's small numbers, primitive economy, and lack of organization often made
them easy prey for better-organized groups.
Hannah took a lot of pictures for her documentation and writings.
It was a tiring but very productive day.
"Cold beer and bbq is a good appetizer before dinner, " Chito said. "I will prepare the bbq" Rico
volunteered. The guys join in.
Chie was cooking pinakbet [vegetable dish] and adobo. "Great combination Chie….like that" Gie is
excited to help.
While Chie is cooking with Gie and the 2 chefs are baking some desert and making avocado
shakes….the rest of the girls play cards on the dining table while Hannah is doing some writing and
editing of the photo's taken. Everyone's busy with their own tasks.
Ari arrived with Jack and Sam. They joined the guys for a cold beer while waiting for dinner. Ari with a
cold beer on hand went straight to Hannah and kiss her on the forehead. How's the trip? Did you
enjoyed the farm? Ask Ari.
It's wonderful. I took a lot of photo's, I am editing some of the pictures to make it more crystal clear, I
need those at 500dpi, showing Ari the photos. I liked the humanmade lake, the ducks and colored
fishes, the positioning of the benches. It was so peaceful there. The management was so friendly, they
offered snacks and it so happens that those were my favorite, I asked more chocnuts for to
go…..Aletha was so generous to gave me a bunch and lots of lots of avocados. I asked our chef to
make avocado shakes as after-dinner snacks. It was an awesome afternoon visit….my kind of homey
place to live.
The sound of your voice, the excitement, I gathered that you enjoyed it, Ari said. Yes, so happy. Very
productive. I got more photos to edit for my blog to post and the novel I started to write. Hannah
answered with a big smile on her face.
Are you busy here, or do you have time before dinner to talk? Ari asked Hannah
I can do this tonight; you're here already, you'll have my undivided attention, Hannah teases Ari.
Let's take a walk outside, Ari suggests.
Hannah close her laptop and went out for a walk with Ari.
Seeing Hannah and Ari was about to leave, Chie announces…dinner after an hour.
We will be back after an hour Chie….Hannah shouted
While walking, Ari grabbed Hannah's hand, hold it firmly.
How was your day Ari? Hannah ask
It was an ordinary day at the office, nothing special, routine.
Tell me something about you Ari, I would like to know you more.
That is music to my ears….so glad that you want details of my life, he chuckles.
Well, I am the youngest of nine children of interracial marriage. My father was from Ohio, and my
mother was from Korea. They were both deceased.
My father bought lands here in Tarlac and develop into a tobacco plantation. We grew up here. We left
after Martial Law was proclaimed. We left the farm to my eldest brother to continue the business. My
father and his sister inherited a vineyard from their deceased parents in Gilroy. When we left the
Philippines, we relocated to Gilroy into the vineyard to help my father's single sister run it. Until now, we
co-own the vineyard and this farm here in Tarlac. When I was in college, I travel to and from California
and Tarlac. Got married, no children. I got divorced 5 years ago.
After I received the decree of my divorce… I asked for 2 months leave of absence to clear my head.
What did you do to clear your head? Hannah asked Ari.
I hang out with my biker friends, biking as far as Monterey, Big Sur, San Francisco, Modesto,
Sacramento…mostly up north.
I started looking for you in your neighborhood.
My neighborhood? How do you know my neighborhood?
