Chapter 107: The Meeting Begins
Ten days later.
When Leo Foster had arrived at Walvis Bay under the pretext of a vacation, the family butler, Jesse, had arrived a day earlier and booked a luxury room in a hotel.
However, Leo had obtained another piece of news from Jesse.
“Really, a biological company named ‘Blackwatch’ has a research center nearby?”
Leo wore a pensive look. “Does their logo feature two hands?”
“No, Young Master. This company’s logo is a pitch-dark black hole,” Jesse replied.
“That’s weird.”
Leo frowned. “No matter what, this company is the most suspicious one. Keep investigating!”
“Yes, Young Master.”
After Jesse had left, Leo logged onto the website on the invitation again. However, after he had entered the verification code, he received this message at once —
“22:00.”
Twenty-two and zero, what would that mean?
When he saw this new message, Leo instinctively checked his watch. Right now, it was nine-twenty at night in Namibia. There was still forty minutes to ten.
“Are they saying that they’ll meet me at this time?”
Leo scowled. He was not fond of their little games. If it were not for the fact that they might possess the technology to extend one’s lifespan, he would have left already.
As for whether they might harbor malicious intentions, Leo was not too worried. As long as they were not incredibly stupid, they would know that kidnapping members of the Foster family from the European Continent would not do any good.
In this manner, Leo waited for forty minutes. When it was ten at night sharp, a sleek black car emerged from the darkness and came to a stop before Leo’s hotel.
“Ring ring...”
At the same time, Leo’s phone rang.
He picked up the phone and noticed that the caller ID was blank. He accepted the call distrustfully and a young, masculine voice immediately piped up from the phone.
“Mr. Leo Foster, I’m the spokesperson for God’s Forbidden Zone.”
“So, it’s really you!”
Leo was fed up with this kind of aimless waiting and hurriedly urged. “I have arrived at Walvis Bay according to the address you provided. Can we meet now?”
“Your ride has arrived downstairs, Mr. Foster.”
Leo quickly walked to the window upon hearing these words. He opened the curtains and looked down to spot a black car parked outside the hotel. Against the backdrop of the night, it was like a black ghost.
“You want me to get in that car?” Leo’s expression was uncertain.
“We’re not forcing you. The car we’ve sent can also just guide the way,” the voice answered.
“Let’s do that then. I’ll be down at once.”
After Leo thought about it, he did not risk it in the end. Although it was important to maintain some poise, it was more important to stay safe.
He called Jesse and after a moment, Jesse came over with a group of bodyguards. “Young Master, the car is ready.”
“Then, let’s go.” Leo nodded and went downstairs. He sat in an SUV driven by a bodyguard while the other bodyguards got into three other cars.
The five vehicles started out at once, leaving Walvis Bay in a stately manner as they headed south along the road.
After they drove for less than twenty minutes, Leo saw the gate at the end of the road which was marked with the words “Blackwatch Biological Research Center”. His gaze turned sharp.
“As I thought, God’s Forbidden Zone is connected to this company...”
They did not stop at the door. The five vehicles drove past the gates and finally stopped before a large laboratory building.
However, Leo did not expect to see dozens of cars parked before the building. There were even several individuals who appeared to be bodyguards standing guard before their cars.
Leo’s frown deepened instantly.
Although the more people were invited and the safer he was, this also meant that his potential competitors had increased. He simply did not know what was God’s Forbidden Zone organization, which was behind this company, was planning.
After he got out of the car with his crew of bodyguards, Jesse the butler leaned over and pointed at the stairway of the building, which was about ten meters away. “Look, Young Master, that’s a member of the Wilson family. I’ve seen him before!”
Leo looked over. Several people, who appeared to be the research center’s personnel, were escorting the person Jesse had pointed to into the building. Then, they walked over to Leo.
“Welcome!”
From a distance away, the Chinese man at their head was already booming. “Welcome, Mr. Foster. We’re truly honored by your presence today!”
Greeted by this unprofessional welcome, Leo tamped down his disdain and shook hands with the man. “Are you the chairman of this company?”
“No, I’m the director of personnel for the research center. These are my subordinates.”
The Chinese native chuckled. “Please come in. To be honest, you’re the last to arrive. The other ten families have been waiting for some time.”
“The other ten families?” Leo was startled. “Who else is here?”
“On the European side, in addition to your Foster family, there’s the Wilson family. From the North American Continent, there are the Edwards family, the Alexander family, and the Rodriguez family. In addition, there’s also the Muhammad family from the Sand Continent...”
With each name that the Chinese man mentioned, Leo’s eyes twitched furiously.
He held himself back from grabbing the man’s tie to ask him a barrage of questions and instead walked into the hall without saying a word.
At once, the packed crowd within the hall looked over at the same time.
“Please ask your bodyguards to wait here.” Qian Wenhuan then gestured to a conference room next to him. “The other families are already in the conference room.”
Leo nodded and ordered Jesse and the bodyguards to stay in the hall. Following that, with Qian Wenhuan leading the way, he entered the conference room.
The atmosphere inside was different from the rowdy hall. As soon as Leo walked in, he noticed everyone sitting in an orderly manner around a wide conference table.
Leo was acquainted with most of them. After all, the upper circles would always cross paths. Most of them had similar positions to his own, being business oligarchs from various countries and family members of financial groups.
The only person sitting at the head of the long conference table was a young man from Mainland China whom he had never seen before.
At this time, there was only one vacant seat left at the conference table.
It was blatantly obvious that this seat was for him. Therefore, Leo breezily walked to his seat under everyone’s gaze, then sat down at an unhurried pace in a true exhibition of British aristocratic manners.
“Very well, now that Mr. Foster has officially arrived, our meeting can officially begin.”
At the first seat, the youth smiled and his voice was transmitted to every corner of the room through a microphone.
