Chapter 474: Chapter 474 – The Tragic Fate of the Swan Maidens
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
This swan was too sensitive. It had found the bonfire that Wei Xiao Bei had extinguished so quickly. Finding his trail next wouldn’t be too difficult for it.
More crucially, the swan was not leaving yet. It let out a sharp cry. Soon, two other swans flew out of the tree hollow and joined it.
These three swans were not as unintelligent as the Giants. Even after confirming that the thief was here, the first swan did not act recklessly. Instead, it waited until its two companions joined it before they began searching their surroundings.
Wei Xiao Bei might not have opened his eyes and used [Enlightenment], but he had a pretty good idea that these three swans were probably all individually as powerful as he was. Otherwise, they wouldn’t possibly split up to search for him.
Pursuing the enemy demanded sufficient power. Otherwise, if you were to catch up with the enemy and ended up being defeated instead, it would be a cruel joke.
However, something entirely unexpected happened next.
After walking around the area once, one of the swans landed beside the Boston ivy.
Much like a fly that had smelled blood, the entangled mess of Boston ivy immediately shot toward the swan with the force of a spring. The plant instantly turned into a large web and bound the swan tightly.
The other two swans immediately flew toward their companion at the sight of this. As they beat their wings, countless white feathers fell off and turned into white arrows of light that shot toward the ivy.
Pupupupu!
A series of piercing sounds rang out and the ivy that had wrapped around the swan was tattered and shredded by the feather arrows.
The swan that had been trapped was not injured. It struggled with all its strength to break out of the vines. As it applied increasing force, the vines that were as tough as steel started to break apart.
However, the Boston ivy seemed to have gone berserk as well. It continued to extend its vines, wrapping layer after layer of them around the swan. The vines that had been shot to pieces by the white arrows quickly started regenerating and joining back together. The binding power increased and some smaller and thinner vines even started to stab into the body of the swan.
Blood spattered everywhere
The ivy started extracting the blood inside the swan’s body, causing traces of red to appear all over its vines.
Wei Xiao Bei took advantage of this moment of chaos to take a subtle look at the swan. While weakening the swan’s resistance, he also obtained its status information.

…..
It had to be admitted that Wei Xiao Bei felt as if these swans, amongst all 3-Star Creatures, posed the most threat to him.
He could sense it. The [Feathers of Light] released by the swans were attacks that he could not defend against in any way. They were fast and there were plenty. More importantly, they were capable of piercing his defenses!
Their [Eye of Truth] was also the key to detecting his [Response Search]. [Odin’s Bloodline] also allowed the swans’ power to increase exponentially in an instant. Of course, there were probably other mysterious attributes to that special skill that he didn’t know of yet.
Fortunately, the swans were currently busy fighting against the Boston ivy. Wei Xiao Bei felt somewhat lucky.
As the battle progressed, he made an observation.
These Boston ivies were the natural banes of the swans!
While there was initially a large number of vines, as the swans fired more and more of their [Feathers of Light] at the ivy, more and more of the Boston ivy was startled awake. These vines quickly joined the battle as well.
Moreover, through his [Response Search], he detected a fair portion of the ivy secretly extending their vines along the tree bark toward the two swans in the air. These vines were like lions hiding in the bush, waiting for the delicious wildebeasts to approach.
Naturally, Wei Xiao Bei wouldn’t alert the swans of the approaching danger. He was happy to watch the two ferocious monsters fight. It would be the absolute best scenario if they exhausted each other and he swooped in to take all the spoils for himself.
Andre had now relaxed and was happy to see this fight happen.
Meanwhile, Kashmir was repeatedly gesturing at him saying that this was all due to her.
What credit, you say?
Naturally, the credit of [Innate Luck].
That said, Wei Xiao Bei did believe that this incident had something to do with Kashmir’s [Innate Luck]. Why else would the swan have landed anywhere else but right beside that mass of Boston ivy?
The cries of the swan drowning in the vines started to grow weaker.
Even with [Odin’s Bloodline], this Swan Maiden could not recover from having its blood drawn by countless vines.
After all, it was only 3-Star Terror rather than 4-Star Terror!
Of course, if it hadn’t accidentally gotten wrapped up in the vines, it would be a completely different result.
The Boston ivies were not capable of flight in any shape or form. The swans naturally possessed the advantage in that regard.
Regardless of how resilient their life force was, their only fate would be getting cut open and tattered, as they would be the only ones taking a beating.
All of a sudden, several new-grown vines abruptly and very silently started growing beneath the two swans. New sprouts were quickly emerging near these vines.
The two swans were completely focused on saving their companion and did not notice the vines reaching up from below at all.
Truly, it was very difficult to guard against.
Even Wei Xiao Bei would have a hard time discovering the vines growing under such circumstances if he didn’t activate [Response Search].
The sprouts grew so silently and without even a trace of energy flux. This alone would cause most sensitive monsters to let down their guard.
They were close now!
He couldn’t help but feel nervous, even when he was just spectating from a distance.
He wasn’t concerned that the two swans were about to be ensnared, but that the vines might alert the swans prematurely and cause all their work to go to waste.
In just thirty seconds, a large patch of vines had grown out from the tree bark beneath the swans. It was probably over three hundred square meters in size alone.
Finally, when the fastest of the few vines were just thirty centimeters away from the swans, the birds realized something was odd. They turned their elegant and slender necks and looked downward.
Wei Xiao Bei could very clearly see their feathers stand on ends when they saw what lurked beneath them. He didn’t know if the feathers of swans in the real world would stand on ends in this manner when startled, but at the very least, these swans’ feathers did.
Now that they had discovered the creeping vines, the two swans consciously beat their wings and attempted to distance themselves from this approaching danger.
However, it appeared to be too late.
The slowly growing vines instantly erupted in height upon realizing the swans’ intention to flee.
Whooosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Wei Xiao Bei even heard the whistling sound of the vines cutting through the air as they rapidly grew.
In the blink of an eye, all the vines grew another three meters upward!
One of the swans was slow to react and was instantly entangled by several of the vines. After wrapping around the swan several times, the ivy dragged the bird downward.
The other swan reacted much faster. It accelerated just as it was about to be caught and dodged the first few vines.
Perhaps the swan became too relaxed upon escaping danger, for it failed to avoid a vine that wrapped about from the wide. This vine immediately wrapped around the swan’s leg and dragged it towards the ground.
The swan broke the vine as it struggled and severed all the vines around it with its [Feathers of Light].
However, though an attack like this would have inflicted tremendous damage to any other monster, it was ineffective against these vines. The swan was wrapped by even more vines before it could escape.
Some of these vines were even severed vines that had been cut by the feathers. However, they continued to wrap around the swan tightly after being cut off from the main body. Some of the vines even extended toward the wings of the swan, cutting off its last chance to escape.
Wei Xiao Bei finally let out a sigh of relief upon seeing all three swans captured by the Boston ivy. He remained cautious. He did not barge out to intervene in the battle and instead continued hiding behind the trees and the leaves.
Perhaps it had been a long time since they had caught such a feast. The Boston ivy appeared extremely excited. Countless vines grew out and wrapped the swans into giant dumplings.
He imagined himself in the situation and found that even he would have an incredibly difficult time breaking free from that situation.
However, these swans were still full of fight and energy. [Feathers of Light] could still faintly be seen shooting out of the gaps of the vines.
However, these struggles quickly turned weaker as the thin vines pierced their bodies.
This was a fair demonstration of how annoying and difficult to deal with the Boston ivy could be.
You could shatter and sever its vines, but the vines would still be full of strength and energy, capable of attacking and striking. More importantly, the vines grew at such a shocking pace! They could grow by several meters in the blink of an eye!
Of course, such sudden growth was only used when ambushing the enemy. The vines mostly relied on their movements to deal with the enemy when they already had the enemy wrapped up.
Wei Xiao Bei could sense the first swan starting to falter.
The swan had no means of recovering from the immense blood loss. Even with 43 points of Vitality, it did not have his [Limb Regrowth]. As such, the speed at which it regenerated blood was significantly slower.
Of course, even Wei Xiao Bei’s regenerative speed could not compare to the speed at which the vines were taking the blood.
