Killing Him to Keep Him Quiet
As she walked over, the whimpering sounds caused by struggling grew more and more pronounced.
Kisa was still a little scared, so she walked over to the other side of the aisle, thinking that in case
something happened, she would have an easier time making a run for it.
As she ascended a few steps, passing two rows of graves, she suddenly spotted two burly bodyguards,
clasping their hands over a man’s mouth and nose, while pressing him hard onto the ground. And who
was that guy if it was not Anthony?
“What are you two doing?” Kisa yelled, “I have called the cops and they are on their way!”
One of the bodyguards started walking menacingly toward her, like he was going to rough her up or
something. But the other one glanced at Kisa and suddenly remembered something, so he grabbed his
buddy and drag him away.
Kisa was on high alert, ready to flee at a moment’s notice, when she suddenly saw the two men pulling
and tucking each other, walking away.
She was taken aback and could not help but wonder, ‘Do those two really think I have backup nearby?’
It was not until the two people had left that Kisa hobbled over to Anthony’s side with her cane. But he
was not the same Anthony she remembered. Just a month had passed, yet Anthony seemed like a
completely different person. The old Anthony was wild and ruthless, with a vicious streak a mile wide.
But now, with his scruffy beard and disheveled look, Kisa could only think of one word: pathetic.
As she approached, she leaned in and asked him in a soft voice, “What’s going on, Anthony?” His face
was slightly red, likely from being held down by the guards just moments ago.
Anthony did not say anything, but just glanced at her once and then staggered over to Lea’s tombstone
and kneeled down, his eyes blazing red. Even with a blank expression on his face, Kisa could sense a
deep sense of sadness emanating from his lifeless eyes. She lowered her gaze, and her heart sank
with sadness.
After a long silence, Anthony finally spoke. His voice was hoarse, as if it carried endless ages of
experience and sorrow.
“Those two people earlier were Adrien’s men. He wants me dead.”
Kisa was startled for a moment, but not surprised. She had seen it coming. Anthony and Adrien used to
be a team, always plotting against her and Gilbert. However, back then, Anthony played the role of the
villain while Adrien was the hero.
Now, Anthony was devastated by Lea’s death and did not even care about the Mullen family’s wealth
anymore. He had no intention of targeting Kisa or Gilbert. His exit, however, made Adrien anxious.
Adrien feared that Anthony would expose his true nature, so he sent someone to kill him and silence
him forever.
Kisa composed herself and said, “Adrien didn’t succeed this time, but there will be a next time. I
suggest you act crazy and stupid. As long as you’re insane, you won’t be a threat to him, and he won’t
want you dead. People like him fear nothing more than getting involved in a murder case.”
But when Kisa finished speaking, Anthony chuckled. “You can say such things because you know his
true nature. But do you really think I can act insane just to survive? It’s just death. What is there to
fear? If I die, I can reunite with Lea in the afterlife. Isn’t that better?”
Kisa could not bear to look at him, thinking of Lea’s love for this man. Lea had not been afraid of death,
but she had been afraid of him dying.
Kisa took a deep breath and said, “But Lea wouldn’t want you dead. She left you in such a tragic way to
get revenge on you. Do you really want to let her down? If you die, how can you face her in the
afterlife? You have no right to die.”
