Chapter 884: Evolve, Chaos Ghost
After Yue Yang entered a certain mutated space, Xiao Wen Li emerged out of nowhere.
Her expression was solemn as she even started staring ahead rather nervously.
Yue Yang hadn’t seen this expression of hers for a very long amount of time, especially after she had inherited the information of her previous life and recovered part of her memory that made her willpower even more indestructible. If something could make her nervous at this stage, it would be… Yue Yang felt his surroundings carefully, secretly noting that the situation was probably as bad as it looked. The entire space seemed to be similar to a domain that belonged to someone else, where the mutated energy had completely turned into a world of fire.
Even if it was the work of a God, it would be weird to own such a huge spatial domain, wouldn’t it?
He couldn’t see the end of the fire even with his Heaven Eyes Transverse skill.
Under his feet was nothing but a boundless sea of flames.
There were countless volcanoes hidden on the bottom of the sea, and from time to time, a burst of magma fire would burst into the sky. The billowing thick smoke and volcanic ash obscured the sky, and even Yue Yang couldn’t see what was beyond the black clouds as all he could do was take note of an entirely different change in the energy.
The hot air pierced into his lungs like a burning knife as the heavily sulfuric smell of the burning flames caused an almost choking sensation.
“This seems like someone else’s spatial domain, but it’s impossible for a domain to be this large. Besides, if this is a manifestation of domain power, then we should feel a kind of restriction against our wills,” Yue Yang was slightly deprived of his ability to see through this mutated world. Out of caution, he called out to the already-prepared Princess Qian Qian and Xue Wu Xia for a discussion out of caution.
“I feel very disturbed. It’s like a very strong destructive energy is devouring this world,” Princess Qian Qian frowned.
“The Book of Truth doesn’t have any notable hints either,” Xue Wu Xia flipped through the Book of Truth and shook her head.
“You two go back first, then. If the fight cannot be won, I’ll be able to run faster by myself,” Yue Yang was not the kind of dumb person who would die if he doesn’t win. He was a clever man who slowly flies the kite[1] to death if he doesn’t win.
T/L Note: [1] A gaming tactic used for long-ranged players using the distance advantages to lure enemies towards them, but never fully being able to reach. Once the enemies are exhausted, the player can finish them off easily.
To put it in a nicer form of speech, this kind of tactic was known as an art of patient harassment.
But in harsher words, it was a nasty type of despicable escorting.
In short, it was impossible for Yue Yang to fight the enemy recklessly in the case of insufficient strength. He was not a stupid kid who will revert to having zero IQ when he got angry. He would pretend to not to be able to withstand the opponent’s attack even if he had enough power to trample over his enemies to make them have a false sense of security. Things like having an honest fight against honour didn’t apply to Yue Yang. Putting the enemy’s corpse into eighteen poses and then standing on top of it singing, “After I hurt you, I will pass by with a smile,”— that was the style of student Yue Yang.
Princess Qian Qian had looked down upon him for such shameless actions before, but because of the many things she had experienced, she found that the enemies were getting stronger than before. If he were to remain as an honest child, a hundred lives wouldn’t be enough for Yue Yang to sacrifice. Gradually, she changed her viewpoints and agreed with his combat strategy, finally fully meeting his tactical needs.
Xue Wu Xia on the other hand, disregarded the importance of his tactics and prioritised the final victory.
To a certain extent, she and Yue Yang have similar thoughts.
Before returning to the Grimoire World, Xue Wu Xia suddenly spoke of a possibility, “You said that this might be a realm, but I think that it might be truly possible.”
Princess Qian Qian was shocked, “If this was indeed a realm, who can possibly be the owner? It’s impossible for even a God to have such a huge spatial domain, right?”
Xue Wu Xia nodded, “We have never seen the domain of the Gods, so I won’t mention it for the time being. But I think that it’s really possible for this Sea of Flames to be a domain. However, I don’t think that it’s a spiritual manifestation of the domain, but that of a trait or a certain power. If this Sea of Flames is a manifestation of a domain power of someone that had perfect control over fire, then it can somewhat be explained. At the beginning, this Sea of Flames was probably normal; it might have been slightly larger than our own domains, but not this exaggerated. But if this perfect fire-controlling person uses the power of this domain to expand gradually for months and years, without anyone to stop them, the Sea of Flames would keep expanding until it becomes what it is today.”
After Yue Yang listened, he fell into deep thought.
After a long time, he nodded in agreement, “Yes, this is most likely the expansion of the Lord of Fire’s domain power. Because this is his real domain, paired with the fact that he used the energy of the Sea of Flames for expansion, there was no suppression of the will of any other domains.”
Princess Qian Qian’s thoughts were also reflected, “If this is the case, then you have to be more careful. This Sea of Flames is very dangerous.”
Xue Wu Xia, “Yes, although this Sea of Flames doesn’t have the power to suppress our wills, it must have an increasing effect for its owner regardless, because this person was very likely to be a master of fire control. That basically means that the person who fits into that criteria the most is none other than the Lord of Fire, so I don’t recommend using the Nirvana Flames for the first time. Let’s not discuss the effects of using the Flame of Nirvana for the time being. For a master of fire control, seeing the Nirvana Flame would mean that they would do everything to have a chance to obtain it. If it couldn’t be taken, then he or she would use any and every form of means to eliminate the owner of the Nirvana Flame. To avoid this, I think it’s best not to use the Heaven’s Fury Fire Lotus and just stick with Frost and Purple Electricity.”
Yue Yang listened to this far-sighted suggestion.
In order to prevent any accidents from happening, such as being too late to escape, he persuaded Xiao Wen Li to go back as well.
If Hui Tai Lang wasn’t there, Yue Yang didn’t want to go to war with an old immortal such as the Lord of Fire. He would have most definitely turned around and run away as soon as he encountered him.
If he was there, Yue Yang’s plan of rescue was to immediately use the Three Realms Compass to escape this hell-like World of Fire. In this kind of place, fighting against the Lord of Fire or any old immortal like him was simply a fruitless task.
“Hui Tai Lang wouldn’t be so stupid to enter this kind of world that consisted dof the Sea of Flames, let alone take the nitiative to provoke the Lord of Fire? He has always been a coward, so he shouldn’t be here!” Yue Yang muttered to himself. The more he explored the Sea of Flames, the more shocked he became. This Sea of Flames was truly not as simple as a radius of tens of kilometers; it was really a world. Yue Yang has carried out a dozen consecutive teleportations that carried him throughout distances close to a thousand kilometers, but there seemed to be no edge for the Sea of Flames.
“Whoo!”
Just when Yue Yang was about to discuss with Xue Wu Xia and Princess Qian Qian, the manifestation of the accumulated chaotic energy and the Power of Divine Calamity that he obtained in the Heaven Realm’s Desire Valley appeared as the Spirit of Flames and Smoke.
The spirit that was used to pass through the Beast Valley had now awakened from her deep slumber.
From the world’s purest Nirvana Flame, the chaotic energy of the source of the universe and the most destructive Power of Divine Calamity, she has now transformed into a new super-elemental Battle Beast— Chaos Ghost.
Perhaps it was because she had sensed a tremendous amount of fire attributed energy, which made her feel instinctively ‘hungry’ after she had just evolved.
With a stroke of her hands, the Sea of Flames within a radius of ten kilometers all transformed into a pillar of fire and rose into the sky.
It was a kind of spectacular sight.
Even Yue Yang has never seen a scene like this unfold, much less outsiders. A blazing flurry of flames rose to the sky as millions of fire streams seemed to flow backwards and infinitely to the body of the Chaos Ghost.
Because she has the chaotic energy that was capable of absorbing all the fiery heat of the current world, she had evolved from the Skyfire Ghost to the Chaos Ghost, which was equivalent to having an infinite stomach that could engulf all the flames in the world. Even if more flames rushed in, she would not refuse it. Instead, she would absorb it frantically as she didn’t know how much heat was possessed by the Sea of Flames under her feet. The Chaos Ghost had already drawn a lump of fire that was accumulated in the form of a waterfall within a radius of ten kilometers. However, using that amount in comparison towards the actual Sea of Flames was like a drop of water in an ocean— a minute amount that barely made a difference.
“Okay, you can slowly absorb it after we save Hui Tai Lang. I asked you for your help before, you just ran off to sleep; now that I don’t need your help, you come out instead!” Yue Yang gave the Chaos Ghost a small lecture.
“Hmph!” Chaos Ghost’s self-control has always been mediocre, but if there was one person in the world who could give her orders, it was Yue Yang!
Facing the Sea of Flames, she acted like a person who was graced with the presence of street foods after starving for three days and nights.
Even as Yue Yang criticized her, she sucked dozens of mouthfuls of pure heat energy before reluctantly stopping.
He asked her to go back into the Grimoire World. After the advancement and evolution, although the strength of the Chaos Ghost had skyrocketed, her self-control ability had not been significantly improved, so she shook her head and rejected Yue Yang’s request. She might be worried that Yue Yang would not ever summon her out again. Although she could not stop Yue Yang from advancing to find Hui Tai Lang, she was reluctant to go back. Her behaviour was just like a hungry person who didn’t dare to steal any form of gourmet food, but was also reluctant to leave.
Well, I can’t do anything about it. Yue Yang shook his head before he finally gave in to her being by his side.
Among the many Battle Beasts, she was the most worried.
With her weak self-control, being able to not absorb the fire energy in the face of the Sea of Flames was already very impressive.
“Whoo!” The Chaos Ghost teleported along with Yue Yang several times before she suddenly pointed to a direction to the southeast with a finger lit with flames, indicating that she had sensed the presence of Hui Tai Lang.
“Huh?” Yue Yang felt strange, I haven’t even sensed Hui Tai Lang, so how did she feel it? How can I say that I am also an Innate Supreme with the added abilities of the Heaven Eyes Transverse? Did my senses actually lose against her who has just advanced and evolved? You know, her previous sensitivity was the worst among the Battle Beasts!
After the evolution, the Chaos Ghost gradually condensed into the flames of a delicate human face before suddenly, a burst of red flames representing her anger was formed.
Under Yue Yang’s gaze, she sent out a wave of energy carrying the Divine Power of Calamity to the Sea of Flames.
In an instant, the entire Sea of Flames was immediately engulfed by a huge flame tornado thousands of meters high and tens meters in diameter, sweeping towards the far southeast at extreme speed.
Yue Yang understood that in this world of Sea of Flames, the Chaos Ghost had also gained an increase of fire energy. Presumably, she had sensed the existence of Hui Tai Lang through the Sea of Flames. Through Chaos Ghost’s attack, Yue Yang also captured a piece of information that there were indeed enemies that Hui Tai Lang was fighting against. He was probably caught in a difficult fight against a strong enemy. Otherwise, Chaos Ghost would not be so eager to help out even when she was this far away from him.
Did Hui Tai Lang really run into the Lord of Fire?
This damned dog. Why didn’t it run away after seeing that kind of immortality?
When Yue Yang thought about it, he didn’t get angry but he was really provoked by the True Monarch Fierce Fire. If it weren’t for Pandora’s prophetic ability that made him aware, he would have died in this Sea of Flames once he came searching!
“Let’s go, you are responsible for blocking the enemy. When Hui Tai Lang is rescued, then only will we settle matters with him! This damned brat hadn’t been beaten for a while, so I think his skin is probably itching!” Yue Yang was happy and angry as he rushed out first, followed closely by the Chaos Ghost. They trailed behind the flame tornado that was getting bigger and faster, not only using this flame tornado with the Divine Power of Calamity, but also to ascend to the peak state in the fastest time.
Although he didn’t know the strength of the Lord, seeing the very evident creation of the Sea of Flames, Yue Yang felt that this battle may be the hardest battle in his life!
[TL note]:
At this point there’s more new characters that are emerging so I’m kind of making the glossary instead of referring to it. I’ll try my best to provide them as accurately as I can, so let me know if any of the names seem awkward or don’t flow all that well!
At any rate, enjoy the chapter! Hope you guys have a great day/night ahead of you!
