It may have become too dangerous to pursue the greatest treasure before their eyes, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t go after the others. To be clear, none of these treasures are ordinary if they are able to appear in the second cave passage.
Zhu Ge Yi was the elder of the Sky Armor Sect so he’s no stranger to treasures and various rare artifacts. However, its such a pity for this old timer that he couldn’t probe the light globes for what’s inside. The things are completely isolated by the lights and repelled his senses whenever he tried to feel for the content.
In desperation, the old man could only use his sight for distinguishing the content.
And soon, he’s locked onto his target.
To be clear, though he’s still unable determine what was what, he could nevertheless faintly make out the contour of said items based on just the visual outline. With the exception of two light globes that’s completely wrapped in a dazzling light, there are martial tablets, medicine ingredients and some weapons.
Zhu Ge Yi didn’t care for the martial tablets since he’s an alchemist by trade, but that doesn’t mean he’s not attracted to the huge chunk of Bhuddism Metal inside one of the light globes.
He’s an old fox in and out. The old man’s not blind to the different level of radiance from the light globes. The stronger it was, the more dangerous it was likely to be, that’s why he’s conservatively aiming for the one with the weakest glow.
With his mind determined and set, Zhu Ge Yi did not hesitate anymore. In one stomp of his feet, the old grandpa promptly flew up into the air and spewed out his Dan fire to engulf the said metal.
But this was a mistake. As if the very act has enraged and provoked the light globe which he was attacking, a burst of brilliance promptly exploded out of the flames and created a violent force at the old man.
Unable to dodge since he’s stuck in the middle of the air, Zhu Ge Yi could only be thrown to the ground with no way to upright himself.
Thankfully there’s others around.
Hong Ming Yue knew her grandfather was in trouble so she didn’t hesitate in the least and dashed up to catch the old fella, thus bringing the first attempt to a bumbling halt as well as a warning to the rest that it won’t be easy at all.
On the second day following the first failure, which was the tenth day after they entered the second cave passage, the next contestant to attempt the act was Wen Xu of North Qing’s team. The old alchemist has succeeded in breaking apart the seal and got himself a five-hundred-year-old He Shou Wu (Chinese Knotweed).
The success was definitely a good thing, but more importantly, everyone’s attention became more focused on the Spatial Piercing Bow. The bloodthirsty aura surrounding the artifact had grown weaker!
The fact definitely brought on a wave relief to everyone’s mood because they now had a mean to get their hands on the Heaven ranked artifact.
On the eleventh day, the next contestant was a guard from the Kai Jiang Manor. He failed of course.
“Useless thing, what use is there for you if you can’t even do as I say.” All gloomy in his face, Chen Minzhi didn’t flinch for a second when smashing down at the man’s forehead with a palm strike, killing him in the process.
Everyone stared hard at the ruthlessness portrayed by the second young master of the Kai Jiang Manor, which also had the direct effect of downgrading their opinion of him from being a regular person to a scum.
On the twelfth day, it was decided that Dao Nu would step forward next after some discussion. Fortunately, the big guy’s performance was good and managed to take the Buddhism Metal for himself.
“Highness, the Bhuddism Metal.” Wiping his sweat away, the big guy actively offers up the prize.
Feng Shen didn’t take it naturally, instead, his gaze shifts to Ling Yue who was also eyeing the thing with flashing stars in her eyes.
“Dao Nu, this chunk of Bhuddism Metal is quite good. After we leave the Star Cave, I will help you forge a very nice blade.” Although the girl’s a greedy person in and out, she’s still not going to instill her bad habits onto her friends.
Furthermore, Ling Yue’s noticed it already. Dao Nu’s weapon was chipped and a mess after using it so often in the Star Cave to fight the various traps and enemies. Now that a material worthy of the big guy’s skill has appeared, it’s only right that she obliges the loyal guard to a new blade.
Dao Nu on the other hand was rather stunned by the idea. His cheeks were growing red as he clasped harder onto the chunk of metal.
“What are you still dazing there for? Ling Yue’s word is my word,” Feng Shen says it mildly like it didn’t matter.
Though not intentional, the words did cause the girl in question to blush. What’s wrong with Feng Shen lately. His words are getting more and more explicit and embarrassing.
After a few coughs to break the weird mood, the trio soon noticed there were some extra eyes shooting over to their way.
One of them being Zhu Ge Yi who clearly resented the fact while the other being Princess Qing Bi and Cong Lu.
Of course, Hong Ming Yue was also on the list with a certain thought in mind. Ye Ling Yue, you won’t get so lucky next time.
According to the previous agreement that everyone made following the days they spent here, it’s decided that each group would take turns going up against the light globes. Since Dao Nu already went, there’s only Ling Yue and Feng Shen who’s qualified to go next within their group.
By the thirteenth day, the results were as following: Ling Yue and the North Qing team each successfully got one treasure, the Kai Jiang Manor and Da Xia team failed.
Now, the next around of selection has come again, and this time it was Ling Yue who got first dibs.
“Miss Ye?” Dao Nu looked worried because he’s well aware of how dangerous those light globes are after breaking apart one of them.
“If I were you, I would quickly forfeit your rights less you humiliate yourself.” The one mocking was none other than Princess Qing Bi, the bratty bitch that’s never stopped yapping.
In the person’s view, Ye Ling Yue’ strength was no better than herself and that the girl didn’t deserve the opportunity.
“Ho~ if you are so afraid of dying then why did you come into the Star Cave. You would be better off staying inside the palace and keeping to your embroideries or whatnot.” All sweet and mocking as well, Ling Yue’s retort left the princess fuming.
“Miss Ye, you don’t need to force yourself if you wish.” Cong Lu’s temple was thumping with pain now that his ear’s been bombarded with the princess’s cursing and screams.
“Cong Lu, she’s able to.” Feng Shen on the other hand didn’t hold any worry and only showed a calm face to his friend.
That instantly earned the boy a warm smile as Ling Yue walked forward towards the remaining eight light globes.
Earlier Wen Xu and Dao Nu have both went the conservative route by targeting the weakest ones up there. That meant the eight that’s still hovering in the air were like mini suns, radiate an intimidating light.
After some thought, the girl didn’t just dash up and charge the things though; instead, she rummaged through her possession for something that apparently infuriated Zhu Ge Yi when shown.
“Ye Ling Yue, so the Sky Armor Mouse was stolen by you! Hand it over this instant, that’s the Sky Armor Sect’s treasure.”
