“Hehe, you must be living in some cheap, rundown apartment in the slums, right?” Ding Caihua sneered, her eyes brimming with hatred towards Lin Wan.
“Once you leave this house, never come back,” Lin Tianyun stated, his tone still icy. He added, “We want nothing to do with you.”
“That’s right. If you’re broke, don’t come begging to us. We won’t care about your life,” Ding Caihua chimed in.
“Lin Wan, if your husband can’t afford rent, you can sleep in the underground passage. Just buy a newspaper for two yuan and toss it on the ground. Hehe…” Lin Qingqing snickered, covering her mouth.
Upon hearing their cruel words, Lin Wan abruptly halted her approach towards the door. She turned around, facing the three individuals in the living room.
“Don’t worry. As of today, my life has no connection to any of you,” Lin Wan declared to them.
With that, Lin Wan pivoted, grasped her suitcase, and resumed her stride towards the exit.
Ding Caihua and Lin Qingqing sneered at Lin Wan’s departing figure, continuing their mockery.
“Hmph, a mere servant. What’s the point of pretending to be noble?”
“Lin Wan, I can’t wait to see you make a fool of yourself…”

As Lin Wan stepped out of the Lin family courtyard, she spotted Xiao Yichen standing there.
Anxiety washed over Lin Wan. Wasn’t he supposed to be waiting in the car?
Realizing her oversight, Lin Wan hastily reached up and adjusted her hair, attempting to conceal the swelling on the right side of her face.
Xiao Yichen noticed these subtle actions.
Taking a few steps forward, Xiao Yichen positioned himself in front of Lin Wan. He lowered his gaze, his eyes lingering on the right side of her face.
“Um, um, why aren’t you sitting in the car?” Lin Wan asked awkwardly.
“Who did this to you?” Xiao Yichen’s voice turned chillingly cold as he inquired.
Anyone who dared to lay a hand on his woman deserved nothing less than death.
Xiao Yichen had been waiting patiently in the car for a long time. When Lin Wan failed to appear, he stepped out and approached the gate, hoping to catch a glimpse of what was happening. However, the gate had a password, preventing him from entering.
Upon seeing Lin Wan finally emerge from the house, he realized she had been subjected to violence, despite the promise she made to wait for him.
“I… I’m fine,” Lin Wan uttered, knowing she could no longer conceal the truth. She lifted her head, meeting Xiao Yichen’s gaze, and forced a smile. “I’m fine.”
Xiao Yichen disregarded her words completely. He firmly gripped her wrist and guided her towards the gate. “Open the door and let me in. I’ll make them pay.”
Even if it was her own family who had harmed her, he wouldn’t let the perpetrator escape punishment.
Lin Wan hesitated to open the gate. She turned her head to face Xiao Yichen, her heart aching as she recalled the recent events. However, she suppressed her sadness and pleaded with him, “Please, let’s go. I don’t want to go back in there. Please.”
Xiao Yichen turned to look at her, taking in the tears in her eyes and the desperation in her voice. His heart trembled. In the end, he relented.
Placing their luggage in the trunk, Xiao Yichen found Lin Wan already seated in the car. Once he joined her, he started the engine and swiftly drove them to Blue Bay Villa.

Upon their arrival at Blue Bay Villa, Xiao Yichen called out to Auntie Li, who was busy preparing dinner in the kitchen, “Auntie Li, please get an ice pack ready.”
Auntie Li promptly responded, even though she wasn’t sure why an ice pack was needed. Nevertheless, she hurriedly prepared it as requested.
When Auntie Li entered the living room with the ice pack, she noticed that Madam’s face was swollen and red. It was evident that someone had physically assaulted her.
Xiao Yichen held onto the ice pack and sat beside Lin Wan, gently applying it to her swollen face.
“I can do it myself,” Lin Wan murmured, reaching out to take the ice pack from Xiao Yichen’s hand.
“Don’t move,” Xiao Yichen’s voice turned cold and stern. He avoided looking into Lin Wan’s eyes, his gaze fixated on her injured face.
Lin Wan’s hand froze in mid-air. After a brief pause, she withdrew her hand.
“In the future, anyone who dares to lay a hand on you, make sure to give them double the punishment,” Xiao Yichen suddenly declared. His tone carried an air of authority, unwavering determination. And finally, he added, “I’ll bear the consequences.”
His woman deserved such power and protection!
