As the creature’s teeth were still sunk into Yun Yanli’s skin when he was pushed across the water, it made the wound worse and caused blood to ooze out of his hand, staining the surrounding water burgundy.
Yun Yanli found himself poisoned, and the pain was ten times greater than any form of external cut that Yun Yanli had ever suffered. He could not help but shiver in cold sweats. Thinking on his feet, he quickly used his spiritual power to drive out the toxins in his body. Meanwhile, he quickly tried to spot the squid man.
The man was severely wounded by the strike and lay floating in the water. He seemed to be coughing uncontrollably. The creature intended to run but fell right into the trap that Yun Yanli had prepared for him. The creature found itself caught in a tight net, which left him with no space to even shift his body. It decided to stop struggling. “Yun Yanli, were you a fisherman in your previous life? Where did you learn to make so many nets?”
Yun Yanli ignored him completely. He only focused on driving the toxins out of his body. He had brought many pills with him, and some of which were really effective antitoxins. Although he consumed the appropriate pills shortly after being poisoned, the wound was still excruciating.
Hence, he continued to squeeze the purple blood out of his hand until he saw that his blood was finally cleansed- the blood returned to its usual red tone. He then dressed the wound before dragging the net to the surface of the water.
The man looked delicate but was unusually heavy. After swimming for a while, Yun Yanli’s arms started to turn sore. In fact, he suffered from minor blackouts due to exhaustion. Carrying the man to the surface was as if dragging a mountain. It was unusually tiring.
How could the man be so heavy?
Yun Yanli threw a quick glance at the man and saw him resting with his eyes closed. His face was still as pale as a sheet. He stayed completely still like a lifeless statue. Perhaps, the man was playing dead again. Yun Yanli would not fall for another trap. If the man was dead, he could always hang his body at the top of the city gate to lure Gu Xijiu into his trap.
Tired, Yun Yanli did not want to think about the man anymore. He had spent a great amount of time underwater, and his chest was starting to hurt. He had to return to the surface as soon as possible. He needed to get his men to search Leguo City as quickly as possible.
After swimming for a while more, he realized that something was not quite right. His vision slowly darkened, and he could barely feel his legs. He wanted to speed up but was halted by a sudden change in his body. He quickly looked around and was shocked by what he found.
Many pitch-black sharks emerged closeby. There were at least a dozen sharks, and each of them was twice the size of a normal shark. The sharks were all equipped with many teeth that were as sharp as swords. As soon as he noticed them, they started attacking.
Even in his current state, Yun Yanli still believed that he could take them down. He raised his hand, and an emerald sword immediately appeared on his palm. As soon as the sword appeared, it was accompanied by a brief, high-pitched but ghostly sound that was quite uneasy to bear.
He knew that the sharks would do nothing to him once they heard the sounds. He would fight the sharks and make it clear to them that he was not someone that they should be messing with.
…
About an hour later, all the sharks were floating lifelessly on the surface of the sea. All of their stomachs were slashed open, staining the sea with a large pool of blood.
Meanwhile, Yun Yanli floated effortlessly to the surface of the water, while trying to catch his breath. The fight for survival had drained all of his energy, but now that all the sharks were dead, he could finally have a moment to rest.
Blood was pouring from the sky, eroding the bodies of the dead sharks and turning them into skeletons. Oddly enough, Yun Yanli’s body was not affected at all by the blood rain. The Bloody Bats were not interested in him, as well. They rushed from the sky and went towards the sharks to feed on the barely remaining flesh.
