Chapter 48 - Doll
If Xiu Mei hadn't gone to his house, she would've thought that the security there is too lax. However, she knew very well that there were securities surrounding his home and it would be quite a feat for someone to sneak into the Lu home.
Well, it must not be within their plans if the person sneaking out was from inside the Lu home. They should really be starting to prevent that especially that Lu Qiang was able to get past them twice in a row.
Emperor Lu: He's just doing his job.
Xiu Mei raised her brow as she read his message.
Ms.Xiu: What job?
It took for another minute before she received the emperor CEO's reply.
Emperor Lu: To bring you to my arms.
Xiu Mei instantly choked on her saliva after reading his reply. The phone slipped from her hands which were fortunately caught on the soft carpet of the study room. She quickly rushed to pat her chest, trying to remove the feeling of the stuck saliva that was caught on her throat.
Dang it! She wasn't prepared for that!
Lu Chen, you're such a devil! How can he say something so shameless?!
After getting a grip of herself, Xiu Mei glared at the phone lying face down on the carpet. She was staring at the device so hard like she was wishing that it would stand up by itself and walk back into her hands which was completely impossible.
She hesitantly crouched down to pick up the dropped phone. Flipping it over, she was quickly met with the black screen, her finger just kept hovering over the fingerprint scanner just behind her phone.
What if… she receives another flirty message from Lu Chen?
At the thought of that, Xiu Mei couldn't help but shudder. Even though Xiu Mei was very well aware as to why Lu Chen was doing this, she still wasn't quite used to it.
It was just a few days ago that she was still acting so formally and professionally in front of Lu Chen and now, she was going to have to see the different faces of Lu Chen that she wouldn't be able to see at work.
Her phone buzzed to life again, cutting off her thoughts.
She reflexively opened her phone to read the message.
Emperor Lu: Xiu Mei.
It was just two words. And that was her name. Somehow, Xiu Mei could hear Lu Chen's voice uttering his name with his husky and deep voice. She quickly felt herself getting fl.u.s.tered at her wild thoughts and instantly shrugged off the idea away.
Xiu Mei, what were you thinking? Stop thinking about stupid things!!
Ms.Xiu: What?
Emperor Lu: I'll pick you two up tomorrow.
Ms.Xiu: Huh?
Emperor Lu: Goodnight.
And their conversation abruptly ended just like that out of Xiu Mei's expectations.
She stared hard at the last two messages Lu Chen had sent before she was finally able to completely comprehend his words.
She was picking her up here? Tomorrow!?
On the other side of the phone, what Xiu Mei hadn't known was the freezing temperature that was being experienced by everyone inside the room.
Some of Lu Chen's people were gathered inside the living room, a few folders in their hands.
The man who was sitting in the main seat in the living room faintly glanced at his phone before he returned his sight at the box in the middle of the table.
Lu Shao, who was standing just beside him, could clearly feel the enraged aura of Lu Chen that he was emitting. He was so sure that he was enraged the moment he left the office and after receiving the report from one of his people.
Anf from what he could see in his current situation, it seems that war would be breaking out anytime soon.
"Have everything getting inside the building under proper and strict inspection." Lu Chen gave out his orders. The other people let out a loud 'Hn!' signifying their compliance towards his orders.
"I don't want anything like these in Xiu Mei's hands."
Lu Chen quickly picked up the box.
Inside was a doll with a broken neck and limbs all pulled out.
Beside the doll is a small note in bold letters, 'It's not yet over."
It was written in blood-red letters that some people had quickly thought that it was blood. It was even written by hand, thus Lu Chen was quick to call people who were going to be assigned beside Xiu Mei.
