Chapter 212.2: Punishment, Promise
Everyone looked to one another in dismay. Just for the sake of not getting implicated, even one’s own identity, family clan, and ancestors can all be denied? Isn’t this too cowardly? Those that originally were acquainted with him, or even having a pretty good relationship with him, at this time, were all too ashamed to face others.
That youth got thrown a few steps away from Li Hong Yuan.
Li Hong Yuan looked down from above. That look was just like looking at a dead object. “Trying to cover up like this, is it that you’re unable to to see others, or unable to look at this prince?”
When wanting to nitpick, that was certainly no matter what one did, it was all wrong.
The youth got kicked by the guard, clearly wanting for him to have his hand taken down, but he still deathly held his head, covering his face, trembling. Moreover, on the ground, there even appeared to be a puddle of water. Someone cried out, and afterwards, hurriedly retreated.
Probably no one knew, the reason why this one was this scared of Li Hong Yuan was because last year, he extremely daringly, very much full of himself, or perhaps should say, ‘the newborn calf didn’t fear the tiger’, believing Jin Qinwang, even if a wangye, still wouldn’t be lawless and undisciplined, went looking for death as he directly tried to provoke him. As a result, he naturally just got ruthlessly sorted out, and explicitly told, if he dared to appear again, will just thoroughly cripple him. Those people by Li Hong Yuan’s side had many means. For this Cui second young master, to this day, the shadows in his heart have yet to disappear. And seeing Jin Qinwang, the shadows instantly magnified by ten-fold, a hundred-fold, his fear reaching the extreme point, not daring to let Li Hong Yuan see his face, even if pissing himself in fear.
Actually, he purely thought too much. The amount of people that Li Hong Yuan has sorted out were enough to fill an ocean. He really didn’t have the energy to remember who this little fish or little shrimp was, and what he looked like. Even if the people by his side will firmly remember, they still won’t go reminding Li Hong Yuan for no reason. Because that wasn’t taking credit for one’s achievements, but looking for death.
Li Hong Yuan’s complexion darkened, reaching out to pull over Jing Wan’s hand and leaving, “Take care of it cleanly.”
Every person here was a noble personage. Getting tainted with something dirty, they naturally can’t continue staying.
Jing Wan got pulled away by Li Hong Yuan. In public, even married couples all needed to strictly abide by etiquette, and won’t be this intimate. Jing Wan attempted to pull back her hand back, but the outcome, one can well imagine. Jing Wan also couldn’t have too big of a movement, else it would just attract even more attention. After entering a nearby pavilion, and sitting down, Li Hong Yuan indicated for Jing Wan to sit next to him.
Jing Wan looked to him, “Many thanks wangye, this doesn’t conform with etiquette, this subject will just stand.”
Li Hong Yuan didn’t say anything, just fixedly staring at her.
This matter still wasn’t over with, so the relevant people can’t leave, and the unrelated people don’t want to leave.
Residing at the center of everyone’s attention, Jing Wan was a bit numb in the head, and towards Li Hong Yuan, a bit resentful, but it was mostly still just helplessness. Competing with this one, she probably will forever be on the losing side. If this stalemate continues, the scene will only become even more awkward.
“Many thanks wangye.” Jing Wan could only express her thanks, afterwards, sitting as far away from him as possible.
“This prince already said, you and this prince have equal honor.” Li Hong Yuan said after she sat down.
Jing Wan smiled, feeling a lot more calm after sitting.
This scene naturally stabbed certain people’s eyes again. Even when they were still her fiancee, they still wouldn’t be able to be this close with her. They needed to worry over her reputation. And they weren’t able to, after getting close to Jing Wan, not let her suffer criticism. But Jin Qinwang was able to. For instance, holding hands earlier, and also right now, many people all took in, but they all looked to their nose and pointed their nose to their heart, pretending to not see.
Jing Wan calmed down, and afterwards, calmly called for Sun Yi Jia to sit down next to her.
Sun Yi Jia glanced at Li Hong Yuan. Seeing that he didn’t have any indications, and out of consideration for the child in her stomach, she can’t stand for long, so she just treated it as him tacitly agreeing, sitting down without reservations. Her impression towards Li Hong Yuan was a tiny bit better than in the past, but it was also just because he was pretty good to Jing Wan. Towards him as a person, she still detested.
Li Hong Yuan looked towards Gong mama, “Done?”
“Replying to wangye, Changping Marquis’s true di child is only the eldest son alone. The first child given birth to by his beloved concubine that was said to have died prematurely was actually the child given birth to by the first wife. Originally, still perfectly alive, and was merely strangled to death alive by that woman, afterwards letting her own daughter pass off as the first wife’s child……………”
“Lies, I’m Changping Marquis Manor’s eldest di daughter, not some shu daughter, you’re spitting slander…………” That Miss Cui, previously, had actually been quiet the whole time, not daring to speak. Regardless how many matters regarding her parents were mentioned by Gong mama, she all maintained her silence. But now, once it touched upon her own identity, she seemingly was able to disregard fear, hurriedly jumping out to deny. However, judging by the panic in her eyes, and her irritable appearance, everyone all understood inside. This matter, nine times out of ten was true, and moreover, this girl definitely must know her own birth. And being close with that ‘thieving mother’, not having the slightest barriers, was also just expected.
Rather, it was this Cui eldest young master that disregarded his fear towards Li Hong Yuan, looking to Gong mama in disbelief, “This mama, are your words all true?” Repeatedly being patient and yielding towards his so called di younger sister, believing she was still small, and was being incited by that slut to be this way, yet in the end, in the end………….The hatred filled his eyes with blood, hating to the point that he wanted to kill.
“You already have an answer inside, so why the need to ask?”
When his mother passed away, although he was only five, he already had memories. His mother was clearly a gentle and virtuous woman, but that younger sister of his was unruly and arrogant, not smart and full of herself. The people of his maternal family all said, she wasn’t the least bit like his mother. Mainly because her appearance was more like their father’s, no one suspected her identity.
Cui eldest young master suddenly exploded, and towards the girl that was still clamoring to the side, it was just punching and kicking, very much like an enraged beast. That look was like as if he wanted to have the person swallowed whole.
For a grown man to be this violently beating up a girl, it was very much frowned upon. But if everything was all true, then this Cui eldest young master was also too miserable. His own father ‘killed’ his mother, his di younger brother got strangled to death and even had his identity taken by a shu daughter, and his own honor all got stolen away by a fake di son.
Changping Marquis has always said that his eldest son was unbearably disappointing, but his second son was smart and clever, greatly having the intention to have his title passed on to his second son.
In the past, he really believed that his fate was stiff, cursing his loved ones, that’s why he was disliked by his father. Even if there were unreasonable areas, he still deceived himself and looked for a reason. But once everything was all laid out……….
Everyone was all able to sense the hatred overfilling the skies. As such, no one dared to go forward.
In the beginning, Miss Cui still loudly cursed, wanting to strike back, wanting to let their father ruthlessly punish him, but gradually, her body increasingly hurt, actually having a kind of ‘might get beaten to death alive’ feeling. “………..Big brother, stop, begging you to stop, don’t listen to an outsider’s nonsense. I’m your younger sister, didn’t you say you loved me the most…………”
These last words however were further like igniting the explosive barrels. Towards him, she was sometimes cold, sometimes warm. But carefully thinking about it now, it seemingly was only when she needed him to be a scapegoat would she be intimate with him. The rest of the times, it was all a look of looking down from above, not even bothering to pretend. He thought that she needed to fawn over that woman, that’s why she had no choice but to do this, but in reality, he was just too foolish, having her act and her true feelings mixed up. “You slut, you lowly slut, you deserve to die, deserve to die…………..”
With such a ruthless kick landing, she directly vomited blood from it.
Jing Wan lightly furrowed her brows, turning her head to glance at Sun Yi Jia as well as her stomach. This kind of violence wasn’t too good.
Jing Wan’s reaction landed in Li Hong Yuan’s eyes, “Enough.”
With just this one simple word, someone immediately went forward to stop. Cui eldest young master that had gone mad still wanted to continue, but in the end, he was just a weak scholarly young master, so how could he compare with the muscular bodyguard. In the end, he was easily subdued.
T/N: Tbh the backstory of the Changping Marquis Manor is a lot like that of a typical revenge type cnovel, except missing the part where some transmigrator or reincarnator comes in and battles the evil stepmother lol. I like that this novel still includes some of the cnovel tropes but in side stories.
