Ren Suo could not think of any other way in which he could further improve his score. He decided to save and upload it as his final score since he would not revisit this chapter again anyway.
“It’s so late already?” Ren Suo muttered and glanced at his phone to see that it was already 23HRS 29MIN. Despite having already figured out a way to complete the side mission, it was still no easy feat for Ren Suo to protect both Yuffie and Kallen Lamperouge at the same time while still attempting to protect as many guests as he could. He had to attempt the stage multiple times before he could finally attain a score that he was satisfied with.

Ren Suo turned off the television, and a wave of tiredness washed over him. He had spent an entire day being immersed in the game. Shaking his head, he proceeded to wash up and get ready for bed. Half an hour later, he drifted off to dreamland and dozed off as soon as his head met his pillow. He fell fast asleep. It was as if sleeping was such a rare opportunity to come by that not even a single ache or pain could disrupt him from his beauty sleep.
…
Misty drizzle falls would be expected in the Fog City of England a few hours later, according to the weather forecast.
This city had been a globalized city ever since the 18th century. As much as most of the power and authority had already been given up and passed on to the younger generations of the nation, it still retained its extraordinary legacies and charisma today.
At dusk, several tourists were walking through the streets of the city under the dim yellow glow of the street lamps in the midst of the falling raindrops. It was as if they could feel the pride and glory of the then forming empire on which the sun never sets.
Limousines pulled up one after another in front of the Blackthorn Tower, standing ever-so-tall in the misty rain to welcome an endless list of honored guests.
The majority of the invited guests came from traditional nobilities which had existed even before the Glorious Revolution. Some were also from families which had newly risen to fame in the last hundred years. The banquet this evening was organized for the top echelons of society, during which the nobilities made beneficial exchanges amidst their joyous chatter and conversations.
A BMW 750Li was parked by the road less than 300 meters away from the Blackthorn Tower. Ingres tapped on the steering wheel eagerly in desperation and asked frantically, “Karon, where did you put the umbrella…Sigh, I forgot again.”
His driver, Karon had fallen ill yesterday, leaving Ingres with no choice but to take the wheel himself. However, the last time he ever drove was when he was taking a driving test to obtain his driver’s license. The reason being, he had no interest in driving at all.
Although he knew how to drive, Ingres never took much notice of the fuel level. Alas, the car ran out of fuel and the engine stopped running.
It was fortunate that the Blackthorn Tower was now only a walking distance away from Ingres, though there was another persisting problem—there was no umbrella in the car. Karon was also the one who took charge of keeping the umbrella and hence, Ingres did not know where it had been placed.
Ingres let out a long sigh and whipped out his mobile phone. He then decided to first give the insurance company a call and get them to tow the car away. Consequently, he alighted from the car and started walking towards the Blackthorn Tower, which was still standing tall in the misty rain.
“It’s okay, the rain isn’t that heavy…” Ingres comforted himself as he trudged on amidst the drizzles. At this moment, another car zoomed past him and caused water to be splashed all over him as the car drove through puddles of water on the road. He was drenched, and his formal attire was now soaked.
“Oh my god!” Ingres cursed softly as he looked towards the car that was speeding off and showing no intentions of stopping. “Don’t ever let me see you again, or I’ll be sure to stick your face into the toilet bowl!”
Ingres took quicker and wider strides towards the Blackthorn Tower; he did not want to get drenched a second time. Heck, could the day get any worse?
At this moment, an Asian face appeared in front of him. There was a red, tear-stained spot in between his brows. It was a handsome young lad, who was now walking towards Ingres. The man greeted, “Mr. Ricard, right? I am the Lamperouge family’s butler. Your clothes appear to be soiled, please follow me to change into a fresh and clean set.”
The handsome lad took an initiating step forward, holding out the black umbrella over Ingres’ head. Seeing that he was no longer in the rain, Ingres heaved a sigh of relief and said, “I’m so sorry to have to trouble you…How did you know that I was Ingres Ricard?”
The handsome lad let out a brief grin before answering, “As the Lamperouge family’s butler, I must have the details of their guests at my fingertips. I will escort you to the Blackthorn Tower. Please, follow me.”
Ingres heaved a sigh of relief as he followed behind the handsome lad who turned into a small pathway; it was the end of his misfortunate events of the day.
Why is he not walking on the main road instead? Ingres was a tad perturbed and asked, “This doesn’t seem like the way to the Blackthorn Tower…”
“Oh, is that so?”
After hearing a snickering laugh from the handsome lad, Ingres felt a blow to the back of his head, and he instantly lost his consciousness.
A few minutes later, a handsome lad strutted confidently into the Blackthorn building with an umbrella in hand.
“Mister, please show us your invitation card,” the attendant requested politely as he stopped the lad. The attendant asked after taking a look, “Are you Your Excellency, Albus Ricard?”
“No, I am Albus Ricard’s nephew,” the young lad replied courteously. He continued, “My uncle has some matters to attend to, and thus, he has entrusted me to attend the Lamperouge’s banquet in his place.”
“Alright, please follow me.”
The handsome lad boarded the elevator which ascended to the banquet hall on the ninth floor. The very moment that he stepped foot inside the elevator, it was as if his entire body flickered briefly.
Without hesitation, he took large strides towards a corner of the banquet hall, hitting a young lady’s arm by accident during the process and causing the wine glass in her hand to tip over. As a result, its amber contents spilled onto the man beside her who was wearing a brown suit.
Then, the handsome lad speedily disappeared into the crowd. While the man in the brown suit was cleaning up his clothes, the lad walked past the man again with a glass of wine in his right hand. At the same time, in his left hand laid a pistol and some other accessories for a silencer.
The lad walked towards the pathway leading to the inner hall and successfully passed the middle-aged butler and black-shirted men’s interrogation by explaining his identity. Although neither of them had seen Ingres Ricard in the flesh before, they had some qualms about his Asian looks. However, they did not stop him because of that.
Upon entering the inner hall, the handsome lad assembled the pistol and pulled the trigger before walking towards the crowd which was surrounding Kallen and Yuffie Lamperouge. He was all smiles—beaming with joy.
The carpeted floor of the inner hall perfectly muffled the sounds of footsteps which were amplified by his rubber shoes. A pleasant and charismatic smile formed on his face as he lightly pressed the trigger with his finger. By the time Yuffie, who was wearing a gorgeous gown, noticed the handsome Asian lad, they were already standing at less than a meter apart from each other.
“Hello,” Yuffie put her hand out for a handshake and greeted. “Are you from Fanying Nation?” she asked.
“No, I am from Xuan Nation.” The handsome lad turned his head slightly with a smile on his face. “Ms. Yuffie…”
He continued, “I am not sure if I should say this, but…”
