Ye Qingli and Jun Aohan were traveling along the highway.
“Do you tend to only walk on foot whenever you’re out?” she asked curiously.
“How else then?”
“Shouldn’t you have a large and magnificent carriage drawn by handsome steeds?”
Ye Qingli gesticulated with her arms to demonstrate her definitions of “large” and “magnificent”.
“Or those horse-drawn coaches with sixteen horses. That would be great and spacious. You’ll even need a flag flying your sigil so everyone would know you’re about.”
Jun Aohan nearly burst into laughter.
He really did own a carriage that actually fitted those descriptions.
In fact, it looked more imposing and superb than what Ye Qingli illustrated.
But he knew he could never show it to her lest she could be horrified.
Even so, he did not fail to catch the hint of interest in Ye Qingli’s voice.
“Do you love horses?”
“Mmhmm…” Ye Qingli responded, nodding, “I have a friend who gifted me a horse, but I have not been able to tame it. A young heir to the ancient breed of Ferghana horses, they say. One of the last of its kind and that makes him really, really rare.”
Jun Aohan nodded to himself as he listened quietly, committing what he had just heard to his memory.
So she loves Ferghana horses.
The pair talked and talked as they entered the inner city.
As the Luo Empire’s greatest city, Fengyi comprised of three parts: the outer city, the inner city, and the Imperial Palace Complex.
They now stood in the inner city, just at the rear entrance of the Imperial Palace Complex.
The palace walls loomed at least a dozen meters tall and one could always make out the footsteps of sentries on top, marching along the battlements above.
Daunted, Ye Qingli wondered if they should call off the plan.
“Are we really going in?” she squeaked hesitantly.
“Will it be safe? I don’t want a repeat of last time. That was awful enough.”
Jun Aohan almost broke out a sly grin.
Is she worried about her safety?
His lips twisted into a devilish smile.
“Don’t you worry. Even if any of us gets hurt, we can safely rely on your skills as one of the best healers in the land.”
He snuggled close and whispered into her ear, “I wouldn’t mind going through the same procedure you did to save me then one more time.”
Quietly, his voice crept into her ear with a hint of fiery passion enough to make Ye Qingli shudder involuntarily.
She realized how she was beginning to crumble beneath the charms of this man before her. Just a few simple words from him, and her heart could swoon like a bird.
And that’s definitely not a good sign!
And before she knew it, Jun Aohan had already wrapped an arm around her waist and like a soaring albatross, they took into the sky, lifting off dozens of meters into the sky!
Ye Qingli drew a quick, long breath.
“Good Heavens! Is it just me or have you indeed improved?!”
If she did not realize it before, she definitely did now.
His powers have increased since their last encounter at the Mount Li Imperial Vault!
Somehow the notion suddenly made her melancholic..
She had thought that the gap between them would now be nearer since achieving the Extrinsic Stage.
A dark figure melted into the darkness of the night.
Ye Qingli had never properly enjoyed the view inside the palace. The last time she was here, she was too busy following the servants to look around.
This time, Jun Aohan brought her directly into the palace grounds to show her the beauty of the garden terraces here.
Ye Qingli was so awed that she never stopped gasping words of praises.
She had never visited the Forbidden City or the Summer Palace before in her previous lifetime, but what she could see now was so beautiful beyond her wildest dreams!
Then, a strange thought occurred: how much have they pillaged from the common people just to build all this?!
She blurted, “Wait a minute. Why do you seem so familiar with this place?”Ganjz, thebrokenpen's Thoughts
